Why is your valve not tight? How to solve it?

Posted by Bundor valve
The valve is a kind of equipment with large loss, and some situations are often encountered when it is used. The problem of the valve not being tightly closed is a problem for many people. How did this problem arise and how to solve it? Bundor Valve has rich experience in the valve industry to provide you with some suggestions.
There are several reasons for inadequate valve closing:
(1) Impurities are stuck on the sealing surface, and debris is deposited at the bottom of the valve or cushioned between the valve disc and the valve seat;
(2) The valve stem thread is rusted, and the valve cannot rotate;
(3) The sealing surface of the valve is damaged, causing the medium to leak;
(4) The valve stem and the valve disc are not well connected, so that the valve disc and the valve seat cannot be in close contact with each other.
Handling method of valve not close tightly:
(1) Foreign matter is blocking the valve sealing surface
The valve is sometimes closed improperly, and there may be foreign matter stuck between the sealing surfaces of the valve. At this time, the valve should not be forced to close. Open the valve slightly larger, and then try to close it. Repeatedly several times, the debris can generally be eliminated.
(2) Rust of valve stem thread
Usually when the valve in the open state is closed accidentally, the valve will not close tightly because the thread of the valve stem has rusted. In this case, you can repeatedly open and close the valve several times, and hit the bottom of the valve body with a small hammer at the same time, you can close the valve tightly, without grinding and repairing the valve.
(3) The sealing surface of the valve is damaged
If the seal is still not tight after several attempts, it indicates that the sealing surface has been damaged. It may be due to corrosion or particle scratches in the medium that damaged the sealing surface. At this time, it should be repaired immediately.
(4) Poor connection between valve stem and disc
Lubricating the stem and stem nut frequently to ensure that the valve can be opened and closed flexibly can avoid this problem.
 The above are the common situations of valves that are not strictly closed and their solutions. If necessary, the valve products of Bundor Valve will definitely satisfy you, and we can provide you with more professional suggestions in valve selection, engineering installation, etc.
