Does the wafer butterfly valve need to be gasketed?

Posted by Bundor valve
Question: Hello Bundor Valve, do I still need to add gaskets when installing the current wafer butterfly valve? Do wafer butterfly valves need to be gasketed?
Answer: The soft sealing seat of the wafer butterfly valve has a new wide-side valve seat and a narrow-side valve seat. As the picture shows.
The design of the wide-side valve seat is equivalent to that of a soft-seal wafer butterfly valve with a gasket. In this case, there is no need to add a gasket when installing the pipeline, and the tightness can still be ensured.
If it is a narrow side valve seat, it is better to add a gasket when installing the pipeline to ensure the tightness.
The wafer butterfly valve also has a hard seal. If it is a hard seal seat, a gasket is required during installation.
